As someone who went through the whole IB program, I remember that freshman year was chaotic and exhausting. My general advice about how to make it through freshman year is to focus on making friends who are also in the MYP program and to focus on the future. Making friends in IB provides a support network for homework help and projects and motivation to work harder.

For instance, during the Nuremberg Trials project, I worked as a prosecutor with one of my best friends. One of the defense lawyers was also a good friend of mine. Working with some of my closest friends helped me prepare good arguments because I felt comfortable and more eager to collaborate. We communicated over the phone when we were working at home which helped me have better social skills. As a result, I got an A on the Nuremberg Trials project.
Additionally, success in school and in my career also motivated me to push through freshman year. Whenever I was stressed out about school, I focused on how I would get into a good college, and next how I could get a good career after college. This reminded me of the importance of schoolwork and that I needed to try my hardest.
While these two main tips helped me through freshman year, another few brief pieces of advice are:
Do your homework the day it is assigned and do not procrastinate.
Make sure to read the books or other prose assigned to you and study for all your tests.
I hope this helped. Good luck to IB MYP freshman and you got this!
